Description
Stewart Architecture is currently working on our first Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) building – a six storey boutique office building in the heart of Barton, ACT, for our long-standing client DOMA. The project acts as a gateway to DOMA’s Little National Hotel and will form part of a precinct of innovative new offices. It is expected to be Canberra's first timber office building. The project includes 4600m2 of NLA with high quality end of trip facilities and an exterior green wall to the north western façade.

The CLT structure hovers over the ground with large sections of floor to ceiling glazing highlighting the timber structure behind. The large spans of the engineered timber provide extensive flexibility for the office fit out. An intimate landscaped forecourt, designed in collaboration with Redbox Design Group, provides a meeting place at the front of the building. The building is part of a global shift towards more sustainable construction methods and promotes the growth of mass timber construction in Australia. It is targeting a 5.5 Nabers Energy rating and 6-Star Greenstar rating.
