The design approach for the Yhuuramulum Building responds to the need for a flexible two level building by suggesting a very practical modular building structure. The three distinct usages (aquatic storage for the school’s rowing program, educational facility and cafe) are carefully articulated to ensure simultaneous independent function at all times, as well as allowing operable overlap when necessary.
This facility is an asset to both the school and the public, providing a well considered and valued design that utilises this prime lakefront site. The facility has been designed to house a cafe tenancy to the northern corner enabling the school to receive revenue from the site and engage with the wider community.
Our flexibility during the design and construction process also resulted in the incorporation of an additional function to the building with no overall impact to program. The school consequently is able to offer and run STEM classes and workshops to their student body in a space tailored to their requirements.
