Macarthur Precinct Master Plan
Located on the prominent Northbourne Avenue gateway, Macarthur Precinct will provide a genuine urban village catering for all aspects of life further invigorating the light rail corridor. The development will include residential dwellings, commercial workspace, shopping, dining, childcare, supermarket, and resident amenities such as pool, day spa, gym and library / cinema.
The spaces within the precinct are varied from generous squares to intimate settings ensuring interesting movement and delineation between public and private.
The design integrates with the topography of the site to provide a vibrant and very public lower ground plane with parking cut into the topography, and a relaxed residential retreat at the upper ground plane. The lower ground level provides the public interface for the site with all commercial and community uses, arranged around the central urban forest which provides 1000sqm of deep root planting. The large trees will promote excellent building interface, provide a more intimate ground plane, and importantly provide a natural buffer for the ground floor childcare. The upper ground level provides all residential amenities – gym, day spa, indoor pool, workspace, library, cafe. Set in resort style gardens, organically formed walls allow discrete access from the Avenue. Raised above the public, a resident’s stair provides access to the lower ground plaza.
The several buildings arranged on the perimeter of the site will vary in heights and façade treatments. The design provides a pedestrian precinct which seamlessly integrates with its setting on Northbourne Avenue, forming an interface between the high-density and high-traffic avenue, and the more suburban scale of Lyneham to the west.
