Stewart Architecture is happy to announce our involvement in the design of Newcastle Quay. Led by SJB with DOMA, in collaboration with ArchitectureAND, Curious Practice, and landscape design by Turf Design Studio.
Newcastle Quay will be Newcastle’s most significant waterfront precinct. It will transform this final stretch of the harbour’s edge into a civic destination that defines Newcastle’s next chapter and reshapes its relationship with the water, culture and public life.
At its heart, Newcastle Quay focuses on public life and connectivity. A fine-grain network of streets, laneways and public spaces reconnects the site to the city and opens the waterfront to everyday use. Movement through the precinct is continuous and legible, with the harbour no longer treated as an edge but as a central civic space.
A project on Awabakal and Worimi Country. Led by SJB with and for DOMA, alongside the New South Wales Government Hunter and Central Coast Development Corporation.
