711 Hunter Street
Projects
The DA was lodged with City of Newcastle this week for 711 Hunter Street.
The project is onn Awabakal and Worimi Country, close to what used to be the shoreline, in the centre of Newcastle’s west end. It will home 260 new apartments (one, two and three bedrooms) and retail space on the ground floor.
Two landmark buildings are anchored by a textured podium made of sandy and recycled bricks, wrapped with seating and perches.
The buildings give way to a large pocket square on National Park Street with mature trees and a future art wall, and a landscaped corner at King Street planted with native ground covers and seating.
Atop the podium is a large residents garden with a mix of private and communal spaces that we have designed to serve all residents: plunge and lap pools, a play area for kids, bbq, communal growing gardens, dog play space, outdoor workspaces, communal seating, insect hotels, wildlife boxes and mature trees.
A project for BLOC with Belanjee, Terras Landscape Architects and Art Pharmacy and other technical friends.
